Nutrition & Transition Guide
A smooth dietary transition keeps your puppy's digestion healthy and their energy stable. Here's everything you need to know.
Feeding Schedule by Age
8–12 weeks
4 meals per day
Soak kibble in warm water until soft. Small, frequent meals support stable blood sugar.
12–16 weeks
3 meals per day
Begin transitioning to dry kibble gradually. Reduce soaking over 7–10 days.
4–6 months
3 meals per day
Full-size kibble. Monitor weight — adjust portions if your puppy is gaining too fast or too slow.
6+ months
2 meals per day
Transition to adult feeding schedule. Continue twice-daily meals for life — Frenchies do best with divided portions.
Essential Feeding Tips
Fresh Water Always
Keep clean water available at all times. Change it twice daily. Frenchies can dehydrate quickly, especially in heat.
Transition Slowly
If changing foods, mix old and new over 7–10 days: 25% new for 3 days, 50% for 3 days, 75% for 3 days, then 100%.
Avoid These Foods
No chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, xylitol (sugar-free gum), avocado, or cooked bones. These are toxic to dogs.
Premium Food Matters
Feed a high-quality, breed-appropriate food. Your puppy is sent home on a premium kibble — continue this for at least the first month before any changes.
Portion Guidance
Your puppy's go-home paperwork includes the exact food brand, portion size, and feeding times they've been on. Follow this for at least the first month. Adjust portions based on body condition — you should be able to feel ribs without pressing hard, but not see them.
